CAB Montana-Texas
June 18 – July 2, 2010

Focus is on the science behind the conservation and management of fish, wildlife and their habitats common to two North American ecoregions: the coastal prairies and marshes of south Texas and the short-grass prairie and mountains of north-central Montana.

Course limit: 16

Applicants have a choice to elect for graduate semester credit (5 credits) if they are interested. All graduate credit forms and payments will be completed upon your arrival.

CAB Texas
July 23 – 31, 2010

Emphasis will be placed on understanding how geology, topography, and soils are related to the natural flora and fauna of each region, and how proper management of these natural resources can enhance ecosystem and watershed health. Focus is on Texas ecosystems. Participants will explore the Nature Conservancy’s 32,000-acre Davis Mountains Preserve and the 500-acre Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute in west Texas; Texas Tech’s 441-acre Llano River Field Station in the Edwards Plateau; and the 7,800-acre Welder Wildlife Refuge located in an ecotone between the Gulf Coast and Marshes, and South Texas Plains.

Credit
Texas teachers may receive State Board of Education Credit (SBEC) and Texas Environmental Education Advisory Committee credit (TEEAC).
